Homemade Chocolate Cherry Granola- 196 calories

Granola is one of my favorite breakfasts, but the stuff from the store is full of sugar and preservatives. You would never believe how easy it is to make your own granola, it is just a toss and bake recipe. Top some Strawberry Yogurt with the warm granola, or serve the old fashioned way with some Almond Milk like cereal and you will be in breakfast heaven.

Makes about 18 servings-

  • 2 ¼ cup Rolled Oats
  • ⅛ cup good Cocoa Powder
  • ½ cup Silvered Almonds
  • ½ cup Sunflower Seeds
  • ½ cup Flax seeds (optional)
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Ground Ginger
  • ½ cup Apple Sauce
  • ¼ cup Runny Honey
  • ½ tsp Sea Salt
  • ¼ cup Light Brown Sugar
  • ½ cup Dried Cherries

Preheat the oven to 310.

Add everything (except the cherries) together in a huge bowl and mix well, move to a rimmed baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes, take out flip the granola and place back in the oven for 25 more minutes.

Remove the granola from the oven, tumble into a large bowl and mix together with the dried cherries.  Store in an airtight container for up to 30 days in your pantry, serve over ice cream, yogurt, or with almond milk for a skinny breakfast.
