To keep the buckwheat pancakes calories low, we used our best low calorie cooking tips. You can use these tips to make all your pancake recipes healthy and low calorie.

Low Calorie Tips for Making Buckwheat Pancakes:

  • Unsweetened almond milk: Almond milk is great in baking recipes, plus it’s just 30 calories per serving, naturally metabolism boosting, and holds longer in the fridge (or pantry if you get pantry stable almond milk). It also helps make this buckwheat pancakes recipe vegan.
  • Maple syrup: Natural maple syrup has less calories than in sugar and honey, has a low glycemic index (just like honey) and is sweeter than sugar. So we won’t need as much in a recipe like this one… Plus you’ll likely already have it out to top your buckwheat pancakes with.
  • Olive oil spray: Skip the butter and use olive oil spray! It’s lower in calories, better for you, and best of all in spray form. So you only use a fine mist instead of a heavy drizzle.
