Instead of cooking both the bacon and Brussels sprouts together, we cook them separately. This way we can control how much bacon grease ends up in the dish once it’s served.

How to Cook Brussel Sprouts on the Stove:

  1. In a large pan over medium heat, cook the bacon until desired crispness.
  2. Remove the bacon from the pan and drain on a paper towel lined plate. Drain all but 1/2 tablespoon of the fat from the pan.
  3. Add the Brussels sprouts and onion to the pan over medium heat. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, mixing once or twice.
  4. Uncover the lid, mix and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the onions are browned and the Brussels sprouts tender.
  5. Crumble the cooked bacon over the top, and serve hot.
