I cut the amount of bacon in this stovetop Brussel sprouts down to just 2 slices. This will allow us to have all the wonderful bacon flavor, but it also helps us cut 100’s of calories.

The ingredients are simple, and they should be. The classic flavor of sautéed Brussel sprouts with bacon don’t need anything fancy to be amazing!

How to Make Low Calorie Brussels Sprouts with Bacon

Instead of cooking both the bacon and Brussels sprouts together, I cook them separately. This way I can control how much bacon grease ends up in the dish once it’s served.

How to Make Low Calorie Sautéed Brussels Sprouts with Bacon:

  1. In a large pan over medium heat, cook the bacon until desired crispness.
  2. Remove the bacon from the pan and drain on a paper towel lined plate. Drain all but 1/2 tablespoon of the fat from the pan.
  3. Add the Brussels sprouts and onion to the pan over medium heat. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, mixing once or twice.
  4. Uncover the lid, mix and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the onions are browned and the Brussels sprouts tender.
  5. Crumble the cooked bacon over the top, and serve hot.

  • 1 onion diced
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
