Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 2 scoops of Orgain Creamy Chocolate Fudge Protein Powder
  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 banana
  • ½ cup ice cubes
  • Water to thin (as needed)

Healthy Chocolate Protein Shake Meal Prep and Storage

Meal Prep

  • Individual Smoothie Bags – Add the orgain protein smoothie ingredients (less any liquid) to a sandwich bag and seal. Store in the freezer (will hold for 1 month in freezer). 
  • Family Sized Smoothie Bags  – Add several servings worth of ingredients (less any liquid) to a gallon freezer bag. Place a 1/2 cup plastic measuring cup in the bag. Close and seal the bag, and store in the freezer (will hold for 1 month in freezer). 
  • Prepared Smoothies – these smoothies are best made fresh, but you can make them ahead of time and store in a clean jar (with a lid) in the fridge. 

Leftover Storage

  • Fridge Storage – Add any leftover smoothie to a jar (I actually serve them in jars so all I have to do is add a lid). Close and store in the fridge for 2-3 days. 
  • Freezer Storage – Pour any leftover smoothie into ice cube molds, and freeze solid (about 4 hours). Then pop out of the mold and move to a freezer bag to avoid freezer burn. Will hold for 1 month in the freezer.

Along with the recipe for protein shake, you'll find several optional add ins to add more protein and boost flavor.
This recipe calls for Orgain Organic Plant Based Protein Powder in "Creamy Chocolate Fudge"… but any chocolate protein powder will work. We like this plant based, vegan protein powder best, so we recommend trying it with these protein shake ingredients.

Ingredients
 
 

Optional Add Ins:

  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon almonds
  • ½ cup blueberries or strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon flax seeds
  • ¼ cup oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons almond milk whipped cream

Instructions
 

  • Add the ingredients to a blender.
  • Blend until smooth, adding more water 1/4 cup at a time to get to desired thickness.

Special Tip:

  • Slice and freeze the banana the night before, this will create a creamy protein shake.
