Meal Prep: You can make this healthy recipe ahead of time and chill in the fridge for later. Combine all the ingredients in a storage container, mix well and cover. Then place in the fridge for later.

Low Calorie Marinara Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 onion minced
- 8 garlic cloves minced
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce

- 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning

Instructions
STOVETOP INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium-low heat. Add the onion and sauté 5 minutes, or until soft. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, 1 cup water, Italian Seasoning, sugar, and salt. Cook over low heat for 4 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to avoid burning.
INSTANT POT INSTRUCTIONS
- Combine the oil and onion in an Instant Pot. Set the pot to sauté on medium heat and cook for 5 minutes, or until soft. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes, then hit cancel.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, Italian Seasoning, sugar, and salt to the pot, cover, and cook on high pressure for 30 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally.
SLOW COOKER INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-low heat. Add the onion and sauté for 5 minutes, or until soft. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
- Transfer the onion and garlic to a slow cooker and add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, Italian Seasoning, sugar, and the salt. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 to 12 hours.
