These chocolate pretzels make wonderful gifts! I like to get small plastic gift bags (I get them at the Dollar Store!) and wrap up 5-10 in the bag and tie with a pretty ribbon.

I gift them away around the holidays to my kiddo’s teachers, our postal worker, and always have an extra bag or two on hand just incase I forgot a gift for someone. They are a lifesaver.

Ingredients in Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods

I have included the white chocolate drizzle in the recipe card below. But if you want to get really fancy and decorate these chocolate pretzels, that can be done!

Simply decorate them before placing in the fridge, when the dark chocolate is still wet.

More Toppings:

  • Sprinkles
  • Flaked coconut
  • Course sea salt
  • Chopped nuts

Shopping List for Chocolate Pretzels:

  • 20 all-natural pretzel rods
  • 2/3 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil

Optional White Chocolate Drizzle:

  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil

How to Make Healthy Chocolate Covered Pretzels

If you chose any of the optional toppings in the last section, you will want to use them after you have covered the pretzels with dark chocolate, but before you add the pretzels to the fridge. This will ensure that the sprinkles/nuts/coconut sticks to the pretzels.

And you can always drizzle with white chocolate after you have topped them too. This recipe is similar to decorating sugar cookies, but without all the baking!

How to Make Chocolate Pretzel Rods:

  1. Set up a double boiler: Add some water to a small pot, place a heat safe bowl over the top of the pot so that it seals but does not touch water.
  2. Cover a plate with parchment paper, set aside.
  3. Bring the water to a boil, then add the chocolate and coconut oil to the bowl. Mix the chocolate as it melts.
  4. Once the chocolate is completely melted, dip the pretzels into the chocolate covering 3/4 of the pretzels. Spoon over as needed.
  5. Place the pretzels onto the parchment paper lined plate as you work.
  6. Once all your pretzels are covered in chocolate, move them to the fridge to set for an hour.

Add White Chocolate Drizzle:

  1. If you want to add a white chocolate drizzle, wait until the chocolate is completely set for an hour in the fridge.
  2. Set up the double boiler again and melt the white chocolate just as you melted the dark chocolate.
  3. Use a spoon to drizzle the white chocolate over the chocolate covered pretzels.
  4. Add back to the fridge to set for 30-60 minutes.

These easy chocolate covered pretzels are healthy and make great gifts! I like to add them to a gift bag, tie with a string and give away as gifts.
You have the option to add white chocolate drizzle, just make sure to wash out the bowl well before melting, otherwise it won't be "white" anymore.
Special Tip: A stickler for all-natural ingredients, I use all-natural pretzels here. And I have attached a link for you. You can use any pretzels you like (including any size).
