The best chocolate covered strawberries, is dark chocolate. It has the best flavor, and goes the best with the sweetness of the berries. It’s also significantly lower in calories than milk chocolate.
Dark chocolate plays well off of the sweetness of the strawberries, and is significantly lower in calories than milk chocolate.

As I noted above, the best chocolate strawberry combination, is fresh strawberries and dark chocolate. Of course, you could use any type of chocolate in place of the dark chocolate, and you can use frozen strawberries thought they will get soggy once defrosted.
You can use this recipe for all your favorite fruits. This chocolate coat is especially wonderful on frozen bananas and pitted cherries!
How to Make Healthy Chocolate Covered Strawberries
If you don’t want to set up a double boiler, you can add the chocolate and coconut oil to a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 10 second increments (mixing in-between each) until melted.
How to Make Skinny Chocolate Covered Strawberries:
- Set up a double boiler: Add some water to a small pot, place a heat safe bowl over the top of the pot so that it seals but does not touch water.
- Cover a plate with parchment paper, set aside.
- Bring the water to a boil, then add the chocolate and coconut oil to the bowl. Mix the chocolate as it melts.
- Once the chocolate is completely melted, dip the strawberries into the chocolate. Spoon over as needed.
- Place the strawberries onto the parchment paper lined plate as you work.
- Once all your strawberries are covered in chocolate, move them to the fridge to set for an hour.

- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
Instructions

I will have to try these. My husband is more of a milk chocolate person, so maybe I will have to get creative. I also heard an idea to mix chocolate protein powder into the mix and that it can be good. Love when people think of new twists on classics to try.
