How to Make Low Calorie Mississippi Pot Roast
Most recipes for Mississippi pot roast call for browning the beef. And I’m not opposed to doing that. But I have made all three methods below (slow cooker, instant pot and oven) and honestly, I couldn’t taste a difference when I browned it or didn’t brown it.
Should you want to brown your beef first, by all means do so with a little olive oil or olive oil spray. But you can skip the step and save yourself lots of work and time.

Nutrition
Nutrition and Calories in Mississippi Pot Roast
The nutrition is based off 3 ounces of pot roast, which is the average serving size for all recipes across the internet.
I based the nutrition off store-bought ranch seasoning, so if you want to lower sodium try our Homemade Ranch Seasoning and feel free to omit the salt all together from it. The recipe will still be wonderful.
