Ingredients in Low Calorie Instant Pot Pork Chops
You can use any apple for pork chops in the instant pot. I love granny smith as they have a lower sugar and calorie content, plus they hold up better when cooked. But you can use your favorite apples, or a combination.
A note on getting different apples- the softer the flesh or the apple, the mushier they will be. So if you like them to still have a little bite, stick the granny smith.

How to Make Low Calorie Instant Pot Pork Chops
Over the years, working with different instant pots in different sizes, I have learned each size has its own special needs.
If you are cooking this in a large Instant pot, you should add an additional 1/4-1/2 cup of water. And if you are using a small instant pot, you can stick to the 1/2 cup.
In all cases, it is important to scrape the bottom of your pot after sautéing (always do this!) as tiny browned bits (aka flavor!) can cause the “burn” reading we all dread.

How to Make Skinny Cinnamon Apple Pork Chops:
- Set the Instant Pot to “sauté, medium heat.”
- Once it reads “hot,” add the oil and pork chops, sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper, and brown for 5 minutes, turning them over halfway through.
- Transfer the pork chops to a plate.
- Add the apples, cinnamon stick, sage, pumpkin pie spice, applesauce, and water to the pot. Mix to combine and scrape the bottom of the inner pot well (scraping the bottom will help avoid a “Burn” reading).
- Return the pork chops to the pot.
- Cover and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
- Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick-release the remaining pressure.
- Remove the Instant Pot Cinnamon-Apple Pork Chops and half the apples to a plate to rest.
- Set the pot to “sauté, medium heat” and cook to boil down the sauce until thickened, about 10 minutes.
- Pour the sauce over the pork chops and apples and serve.
