  • Water – when baking, if you find the batter needs more moisture, there is no need to add milk (or any calorie rich ingredient). Zero calorie water will work just fine!

If you don’t have parchment paper that is ok. Just oil the baking sheet, there is no oil in the cookie recipe, so they will stick without parchment paper or an oiled baking sheet.

How to Make Low Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. To a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl combine the apple sauce, vanilla extract and water. Whisk together.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix together until just combined.
  5. Add 1/2 of the chocolate chips and fold into the batter.
  6. Scoop out 16 cookie balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Wet your hands a little and then press the cookies down a bit to form cookie rounds.
  8. Top with remaining chocolate chips and course salt.
  9. Bake for 7 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet (they will continue to cook on the sheet while they cool.)
