I used plant based vanilla protein powder for this smoothie recipe, but you could use whey, collagen, or even strawberry flavored protein powder. It’s a very versatile recipe, you can’t hurt it!

As noted above, I used a plant based vanilla protein powder. But you could use your favorite vanilla or strawberry protein powder.
I also recommend getting frozen strawberries. They are cleaned and trimmed already, and will hold forever in your freezer, saving you money and time.


Shopping List for Strawberry Banana Protein Shakes:
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 medium banana (sliced and frozen is ideal)
- 1 cup unsweetened milk (almond, oat, or skim)
- 2 scoops Vanilla Protein Powder (or one serving- different brands call for different amounts)
- 1 cup ice cubes (optional)
How to Make Strawberry Banana Protein Shakes
I also recommend slicing and freezing your bananas the night before. Actually, the next time a banana starts to brown, slice and freeze it for smoothies later.
You can use fresh strawberries and bananas, but they will make for a thinner and room temperature smoothie. You can add ice to chill it and thicken it up a bit, but the flavor won’t be as strong when you water it down.


How to Make a Strawberry Banana Protein Shake:
- Add all of the strawberry banana ingredients to the blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass or jar and rinse out the blender right away to avoid sticking.
- Serve cold.
