How to Make a Mexican Style Pizza Recipe
Making homemade taco pizzas is easy and fun. Plus, you get to add your favorite toppings… just like with tacos!
I recommend putting all the “Optional Toppings” out (just like you do on Taco nights) so everyone can jazz up their Mexican pizza slices as they see fit.
Special Tip: Use a rolling pin to roll out the pizza to an extra large size. This will yield larger slices… for the same amount of calories!
How to Make a Pizza Taco Recipe:
- Preheat the oven to 450°
- If using homemade pizza crust, stretch into a large pizza, add to a baking sheet, and bake for 5 minutes. If using pre-baked pizza crust, skip this step, but place crust on a baking sheet and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook ground meat over medium heat until cooked through. Then drain, stir in taco seasoning and water, and bring to a simmer. Cook, uncovered, for 10 minutes until the liquid is absorbed.
- In a medium bowl, combine beans and salsa.
- Spread the bean and salsa sauce over crusts. Then top with taco meat, chips and cheese.
- Bake for 5-8 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the crusts browned.
- Sprinkle with lettuce and tomatoes, and any additional Mexican pizza toppings, cut into 8 slices, and serve with additional salsa.
