These Low Calorie Sugar Cookies are just 48 calories and have only 0.1g of sugar per cookie! Perfect for decorating, these healthy sugar cookies are easy and fun to make! I have even included a healthy greek yogurt based frosting that tastes like butter cream frosting!

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 6 tablespoons all-natural butter spread (I used Simple Truth Buttery Spread)
  • 2 tablespoons all-natural zero calorie sugar (see recipe card)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon all-natural sprinkles (optional)

Healthy Sugar Cookies Meal Prep and Storage

Meal Prep: You can make the batter ahead of time and chill it in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can also scoop the cookie dough into balls, place on a baking sheet and freeze. Once completely frozen move to a freezer bag or container and store for up to a month in the freezer. Bake as directed – baking just 1 cookie or the entire batch still requires the same heat and time.
Storage– Store in the fridge for 5 days or the freezer for 1 month.

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl or countertop mixer with the paddle attachment, combine the butter, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined.
  • Add in the flour and baking powder, and mix until the ingredients come together in a dough. Divide the dough into 2 balls.
  • Place a piece of parchment paper on the countertop and add one ball of dough to the center. Add an additional piece of parchment paper to the top and roll out the dough in-between the parchment paper sheets until it's 1/4 inch thick.
  • Use cookie cutters to cut out 2-3 inch cookies, placing them on the prepared backing sheet as you work.
  • Roll out the second ball of dough and proceed cutting out cookies and moving to the baking sheet.
  • OPTIONAL: Add sprinkles to the tops if desired.
  • Bake the cookies for 7-9 minutes, until golden brown on the bottoms.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven and cool completely before adding frosting and decorating.
  • OPTIONAL: To make the frosting, add the ingredients to a medium bowl and mix together until well mixed. Then spread on cooled cookies.
