How to Make Mac and Cheese:

  1. Cook the pasta according to the directions on the box. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the flour and mix with a wooden spoon, continuously, until you have a light brown paste.
  3. Add in 1 cup of milk and whisk well to remove any lumps. Mix the remaining milk and whole garlic cloves. Increase the heat to medium-high. Mix often, scraping the bottom of the pan often, until the sauce has thickened and coats the spoon. Turn off the heat, remove the garlic cloves and discard.
  4. Stir in the cooked pasta, cheddar cheese, salt and pepper. Mix well, until all the pasta is coated and the cheese is melted.

Final Thoughts

Here at Lose Weight By Eating we know that pasta is not the healthiest of ingredients… But completely removing something you love from your diet, will be your weight loss demise in the end!

As a 10 year weight loss coach, I have seen it over and over again. Someone wants to accelerate their weight loss by cutting out all pasta, or cheese, or sugar. These are the poor souls who ultimately fail and fall off the plan all together.

Others do lose all the weight, and “celebrate” by going overboard. Or finally give in to a pasta dish they’ve been craving, just to follow the next 3 weeks with “I’ll start again on Monday.” In which they gain weight…

Yes it would be healthy to remove all pasta from your diet! But if you LOVE pasta, then you are just setting yourself up for failure. It’s far better to find a healthy substitution that you can enjoy without ruining your diet.
