Meal Prep: Make the lemon water as directed, then move to a jar and cover. Add to the fridge to chill. Will hold for 4 days in the fridge
Serve: I like to serve the meal prepped version cold, but you can also reheat on the stove, or in the microwave.

Leftovers: I like to add leftovers to ice cube molds, and freeze. Then I can use them as ice cubes and make the “meal prep” cold version of this drink later.

Lose Weight By Eating
This hot lemon water detox drink is just 7 calories, and can be made in a flash.
Unlike other hot water with lemon drinks, we won't be boiling the lemon juice as this removed much of its nutrition. Instead we add it along with the honey just before serving.
The honey is optional, and you could make this a vegan lemon and ginger water by omitting the honey, or by using agave in its place.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 inch piece of fresh ginger peeled
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1-2 tablespoons raw honey or agave (optional)

Healthy Add-Ins:

  • Lavender – fresh or dried lavender is great in this drink and can help ease tummy troubles too. Add in with the ginger to steep in the water and infuse it with flavor.
  • Mint – naturally reducing bloat mint is a great add-in for this drink. Get fresh mint leaves for best results (and flavor). Add the mint in with the ginger and steep in the water and infuse it with flavor.
  • Lime – if you really love citrus add in juice of 1/2 a lime to boost flavor and (metabolism boosting) vitamin C.
  • Cucumber – especially great in the cold version of this drink cucumber naturally reduces tummy bloat! I like to add this at the very end before serving.
  • Berries – add a boost of color and metabolism boosting vitamin C with 1/4 cup berries (your favorite or a mixture) to the water after boiling. Let steep for 10 minutes and then add in the lemon juice.

How to Make Hot Morning Lemon Water Recipe:

  • Peel and thinly slice the ginger, and add to a small sauce pan.
  • Add the water, place on a burner over medium heat.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, remove and discard the ginger.
  • Remove from heat, add in the lemon juice and honey and mix until the honey is dissolved.
  • Pour the lemon ginger tea into a mug and serve hot.

How to Make Cold Lemon Water Detox Drinks:

  • Add 1 cup of ice to a tall glass and set aside.
  • Peel and thinly slice the ginger, and add to a small sauce pan.
  • Add the water, place on a burner over medium heat.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, remove and discard the ginger.
  • Remove from heat, add in the lemon juice and honey and mix until the honey is dissolved.
  • Pour the lemon ginger tea over the ice and serve cold.

I like drink this lemon water drink first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. But you can drink it anytime of the day!
For the best weight loss results, drink this lemon water recipe 3 times per day.
To boost metabolism and weight loss, drink this lemon water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, again before lunch, and again before dinner. As a bonus, it will fill you up a little so you don’t eat as much, saving you additional calories.
You can enjoy this drink hot or cold, the health benefits are the same. I like to drink it hot in the cold months, and iced in the hot months.
