Today I wanted to share my Banana and Almond Butter Toast recipe with you. It’s my current favorite breakfast because it’s quick, easy and ohhh so yummy!
Not only is this breakfast tasty, but it’s really good for you too. Bananas are delicious, full of potassium, and naturally free of fat, cholesterol and sodium. The best health benefit of almond butter it’s good for your heart. It’s rich in monounsaturated fats, which are the type of fats that reduce cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart disease.
The 100% wheat bread is full of fiber for a healthy digestive system, and is really good for your heart as well. Throw in the fact that 100% whole wheat bread has been linked to lower body weight by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and this Banana and Almond Butter Toast makes the perfect breakfast!
Makes 1 serving of Banana and Almond Butter Toast.
- Slice of 100% whole wheat bread
- 1 TBSP almond butter
- 1/2 banana sliced
Pop the bread in the toaster, spread w/ almond butter, top w/ bananas. This filling meal is packed full of potassium, fiber, calcium and protein and only 200 calories.
Notes on this Banana and Almond Butter Toast recipe- I like to make my own bread, or buy it from the bakery where I know there are no preservatives. If you buy it from the bakery at your local grocery store it is usually the same price as the big name bread brands. It will not last as long but stick that baby in the freezer and you are good to go.
