Ingredients Healthy Protein Avocado Ice Cream
There are many recipes out there for homemade avocado ice cream. Many are very high in calories and fat. And that’s ok, but here at Lose Weight By Eating it’s all about cutting calories and unhealthy fats so you can have MORE of what you love.
So I made a different kind of vegan avocado ice cream recipe. With low calorie almond milk (instead of high calorie coconut cream) and added spinach to help boost metabolism without changing the flavor.


Shopping List for Healthy Avocado Ice Cream:
- Unsweetened almond milk
- Vanilla protein powder
- All-natural zero calorie sweetener (more information in the recipe card below)
- Avocado
- Spinach
Optional Add-Ins:
- Dark chocolate chips
- Flaked coconut
- Peppermint extract (try the chocolate and peppermint together for mint chocolate chip!)
- Pecans
How to Make Healthy Avocado Ice Cream
You can make this ice cream recipe avocado in a blender or a food processor. However it’s best in a food processor.
Special Note: If you’re adding in some optional add-ins to your healthy ice cream, you may want to hold back 1/2 of the chocolate chips, coconut, or pecans to top the avocado ice cream with. This will give it a nice texture.


How to Make Healthy Vegan Protein Avocado Ice Cream:
- Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender or food processor.
- Pulse to get things moving, then blend until smooth.
- Scrape the ingredients down as needed to blend well.
- Scoop into a lidded container or a bread pan, and cover with plastic wrap.
- Freeze for 1-2 hours until firm, then scoop and serve.

I cut 100’s of calories by using unsweetened almond milk in place of coconut cream. Then I gave the recipe a healthy protein boost with plant based vanilla protein powder.

Low Calorie Protein Avocado Ice Cream
Equipment
- High Speed Blender OR Food Processor
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 2 tablespoon all-natural zero calorie sweetener
- 1 avocado
- 2 cups spinach
- 4 cups ice
Optional Add-Ins:
- 4 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
- 4 tablespoons flaked coconut
- ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract try the chocolate and peppermint together for mint chocolate chip!
- 4 tablespoons chopped pecans
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender or food processor.
- Pulse to get things moving, then blend until smooth.
