There are many brands of all-natural zero calorie sodas you can use to make this cocktail. San Pellegrino has a grapefruit flavored soda water, and so does La Crox, and Ice as well.
My favorite is the Bubbly brand though. Choose your favorite, or see the recipe card for more ideas.

How to Make Skinny Salty Dog Drinks
Adding the salt to the glass is the hardest part, but it’s what makes the drink “salty” so I recommend trying it at least once before giving up.
Just slice off a wedge of your grapefruit before juicing it, then rub it around the rim of the glass. This will make the salt stick and it will give the salt a nice grapefruit flavor too.

How to Make a Lower Calorie Salty Dog:
- To a small plate add the salt.
- Rub the grapefruit wedge around the rim of a tall glass, the dip the wet tin of the glass into the salt.
- Add the vodka and fresh grapefruit juice to the glass.
- Slowly add in the soda, then top with ice and serve.
