- ⅔ cup Zero Calorie All-Natural Brown Sugar (see recipe card for more options)
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup unsweetened apple sauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 large candy cane
- ⅓ cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Meal Prep: You can make the batter ahead of time and chill it in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can also scoop the cookie dough into balls, place on a baking sheet and freeze. Once completely frozen move to a freezer bag or container and store for up to a month in the freezer. Bake as directed – baking just 1 cookie or the entire batch still requires the same heat and time.
Storage– Store in the fridge for 5 days or the freezer for 1 month.

These Low Calorie Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies are just 36 calories each, they make the perfect Christmas cookies, and yes Santa loves these!Special Tip: If you don't have candy canes, but have candy peppermints, you can use 4 of those instead.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or Gluten Free Flour)
- ⅔ cup Zero Calorie All-Natural Brown Sugar (or regular brown sugar)
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup unsweetened apple sauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 large candy cane (or 3 mini)
- ⅓ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- To a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl combine the apple sauce, vanilla extract and water. Whisk together.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix together until just combined.
- Add the candy cane to a bag, and use a rolling pin to mash it into small pieces.
- Add 1/2 of the chocolate chips and fold into the batter, along with the candy cane pieces.
- Scoop out 16 cookie balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Wet your hands a little and then press the cookies down a bit to form cookie rounds.
- Top with remaining chocolate chips.
- Bake for 7 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet (they will continue to cook on the sheet while they cool.)
