This low calorie mint julep cocktail is easy to make, and delicious. I was able to cut the calories in this drink recipe without changing the flavor, or compromising the potency.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- 8 mint leaves
- ¼ ounce zero calorie simple syrup (see recipe card)
- 2 ounces whiskey bourbon
- Mint sprig (optional)
- Angostura bitters (optional)

Skinny Mint Julep Cocktails Meal Prep and Storage
Meal Prep: You can meal prep (or make party pitchers) by making the drink and skipping the ice. Then cover (jars are great for this) and store for later.
Storage: Will hold for 2 days in the fridge, or add to the freezer for 2 weeks (it won’t freeze solid thanks to the booze).
Serving: Pour over ice and enjoy.

Equipment
- muddler
Ingredients
- 8 mint leaves
- ¼ ounce zero calorie simple syrup
- 2 ounces whiskey bourbon
- Mint sprig optional
- Angostura bitters optional
Instructions
- In a Julep cup or tall glass, lightly muddle the mint leaves in the simple syrup.
- Add the bourbon then pack the glass tightly with crushed ice.
- Stir until the bourbon and ice together until the glass is frosted on the outside.
- Top with more crushed ice to form an ice dome, and garnish with a mint sprig and a few drops of (optional) bitters.
