You’ll want fresh mint and lemons for this whiskey smasher cocktail, store-bought lemon juice and dried mint just work cut it. So be sure to get the real stuff!
And if you don’t want to get the zero calorie simple syrup to make this a low calorie whiskey soda cocktail, that’s ok! It will be just as yummy with regular simple syrup or even maple syrup.

How to Make a Low Calorie Whiskey Smash Cocktail
To make this easy whiskey cocktail, you will need a muddler, and a cocktail shaker.
Though you could use a tall glass and a spoon to do the smashing, in that case you would not “shake” (unless you wanted whiskey on the ceiling.)
How to Make a Skinny Whiskey Bourbon Smash:
- Fill a glass with crushed ice.
- Add the mint leaves to a cocktail shaker. Muddle to extract flavor.
- Next, add the lemon wedges and muddle again to release the juice.
- Add the whiskey and zero calorie simple syrup and fill the shaker with ice.
- Shake until cold and strain into a glass.
- Top with soda water, and serve with a mint leaf.

- 5 large mint leaves
- 1/4 lemon sliced into 2 wedges
- 2 ounces whiskey

- 1-2 oz soda water
Instructions
