This Healthy Recipe for Honey Baked Ham cuts out over 1/2 of the honey without changing the flavor... saving you calories AND money! This recipe is for a fully cooked ham (which is pretty much all you can find these days anyhow). It makes for an easy holiday main course, or perfect ham for sandwiches!
Preheat the oven to 425° and line a baking tray or dish with foil.
In a small pot over medium heat combine the pineapple juice, butter, honey and brown sugar. Cook until the sugar is dissolved.
Meanwhile, trim away the rind on the ham and discard (not the fat).
Using a sharp knife score a 1-inch-wide diamond pattern (1/4 inch deep) over the entire ham. Insert cloves into the centre of each diamond. Place the ham in the prepared baking tray.
Pour 1/2 of the glaze all over the ham, brushing in between the cuts to evenly cover.
Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
Remove from the oven, add the remaining glaze and some of the pan juices, and cook for 15-25 minutes until a dark golden-brown crust has formed, (about 30 minutes total).
Broil for 2-5 minutes (watch carefully) then remove from the oven.
