Zest the lemon over the tops of the asparagus, then slice and place over the asparagus.
Sprinkle over the garlic, salt and pepper

To trim the asparagus you can break off the bottoms with your hands, or cut off 1/4 of the botton of the stalk. This part is very fibrous and difficult to chew. Breaking the first one with your hands will show you how short to cut the rest.
