How to Make Healthy Sloppy Joes:

  1. Get a sauté pan over medium heat, and spray with olive oil.
  2. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic and sauté until soft, about 10 minutes.
  3. Next, add in the ground meat, and cook until browned, about 10 minutes.
  4. Add in the carrot, tomato paste, tomato sauce, mustard, honey, vinegar, chili powder, and paprika. Mix and simmer until thick, about 10 minutes.
  5. Taste, and add salt and pepper as needed.
  6. Serve hot, on burger buns.

You can serve this recipe for sloppy joes on buns (the traditional method) or you can add it to roasted bell peppers, atop a baked potato, even as a “open’ faced” sandwich to cut carbs.
