Up next, how to make mango spicy sauce with habaneros…

How to Make Mango Habanero Sauce

Mango and hot sauce go so well together. The sweetness of the mangos mellow out the extreme heat of the habanero Mexican sauce. Making this spicy hot sauce with habaneros perfectly balanced.

There are a few important items you should pick up or get ready before making this spicy mango sauce…

Important Items to Have Ready Before Making Homemade Hot Sauce:

  • Blender or food processor… if you don’t have a high speed blender, use a food processor
  • Fine mesh strainer… (if you want a chunky hot sauce you can skip)
  • LOTS of hand soap
  • Rubber gloves… you can skip this step, but PLEASE be careful and don’t touch your face (or any other part of yourself) until after you wash your hands several times.
  • Glass jars to store… or freezer bags to freeze in.

I really can not stress this more… DO NOT USE HOT WATER when cleaning up after this cooking adventure!

I did, and I maced myself! Full on asthma attack, couldn’t see well. Mace (yeah the stuff you spray in a mugger’s face) is made of spices like habaneros. So NO HOT WATER! You’ll thank me later.

And while we’re at the “disclaimers” don’t touch your eyes, face, don’t touch anything until you wash up well. Men, I’m talking to you… don’t go to the bathroom until you wash your hands VERY well. I know this is a little “TMI” but again, you’ll thank me later!

How to Make Mango Hot Sauce:

  1. Prep the peppers, cut off stems, and add to the blender or food processor. If you don’t want super spicy sauce, remove seeds and discard before adding to blender.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients to the blender or food processor, and blend until smooth.
  3. Add the sauce into a sauce pan over medium heat.
  4. Simmer for 10-15 minutes (stir often to avoid burning) until thick.
  5. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature.
  6. Strain the sauce through a fine mesh strainer, then transfer to glass jars and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks (you can also move to freezer bags and freeze leftovers for a later date).

Special Tips:

  • Before you get started, put on rubber gloves. If you do not have any, be very careful handling the peppers, and make sure to triple wash your hands before you touch anything after handling.
  • Throw any seeds and stems into the trash, NOT the garbage disposal. Otherwise when you run the disposal you could essentially mace yourself.
  • Use COLD water to rinse out blender, sauce pan, mesh strainer. Hot water will create a spicy steam, and is (again) like macing yourself!

Special Tip: You can find these directions, along with measurements, nutrition and more in the sharable recipe card in the next section!
