I have supplied a basic recipe, and below you’ll also find lots of add-ins and toppings. So you can make blueberry, chocolate chip, and even cranberry muffins all with this basic oat muffin batter recipe.
Low Calorie Oatmeal Muffin Ingredients:
- Bananas – you want very ripe bananas, they take the place of sugar (but I do have tips for using bananas not past their prime in the recipe card)
- Greek Yogurt – I use 0% greek yogurt, it’s packed with protein and naturally increases metabolism.
- Eggs – boosts the protein more and helps bind the muffins.
- Vanilla – gives a boost of flavor for virtually no calories.
- Oatmeal – you’ll want old fashioned or rolled oats, gluten free oats also work.
- Baking Soda and Powder – you’ll need both, these help the muffins rise.
- Optional Add-Ins and Toppings – there are so many yummy add-ins and toppings, see below the photo or in the recipe card for lots of yummy oat muffin flavors.

How to Make Healthy Oatmeal Muffins
These healthy oat muffins are so easy and fun to make. You basically add everything (except add-ins and toppings) to a food processor or blender, and let it do all the work for you!
Tools and Equipment:
- Food Processor or High Speed Blender
- Measuring Cups and Spoons
- Muffin Tin
- Muffin Cup Liners


How to Make Healthy Oat Muffins:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a muffin pan with paper muffin liners.
- To a food processor or high speed blender add the bananas, greek yogurt, eggs, vanilla extract, oats, baking powder and baking soda.
- Process or blend until you have a smooth batter, then gently folding any add-ins (like blueberries, chocolate chips, dried cranberries, etc.)
- Scoop the batter into the muffin cups, and sprinkle with any desired toppings.
- Bake for 15 minutes, until the muffins are set and lightly browned.
- Cool in the pan 5 minutes, then move to a cooling rack or serve hot.
- Muffins will hold in the fridge for 7 days or the freezer for a month.
